Why Franken to step down from Senate seat



Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., will officially renounce Tuesday, nearly a month after saying he would go away office over sexual misconduct allegations. His successor, Minnesota Lt. Gov. Tina Smith, might be sworn in Wednesday. Franken announced he become leaving the Senate after more than half of a dozen women alleged he touched them improperly or made unwanted sexual advances. Many of the accusations consult with incidents that took place earlier than he became elected in 2008. Franken has disputed a number of the accusations, even though one accuser, TV host Leeann Tweeden, posted a picture of him leering and attaining for her breasts whilst she slept.
